Sorry that I went missing for a while

I’ve mainly been updating my facebook page instead of this site. So I’m gonna run through what’s been going on lately, as things have been happening super fast recently.

  • I got accepted into my first Artist Alley back in February. I will be sharing a table at NashiCon with my friend Jeannie Harmon. So I’ve been preparing prints for that.
  • Not long after that, I also found out that I will have a table at HeroesCon, also with Jeannie. Preparing for HeroesCon should be easier since I’ll already have most of my stuff still from NashiCon.
  • So as you might guess, I’ve been busy drawing prints for conventions. Prints and Progress Shots  and I’m still trying to do more before April gets here. Wish me luck!
  • You also might guess that I’ve been running around the internet at top speed trying to find places to get good prints for cheap. You’d be correct. I think I may have found a place, though. I’m still waiting on my test prints from Walmart to get here. (9 cents a print for 4 x  6? Why not, right?)
  • On top of that, I’ve still been keeping up with my webcomic. I just finished Chapter 11 on Monday. 🙂 I’m gonna have to take a hiatus at some point for NashiCon, however.
  • Also for NashiCon, I finally got around to printing these:These are postcards that I’m gonna give away at my table. I was able to get 100 of these for $8! I’m also gonna draw a postcard to promote my webcomic; I should be working on that soon.
  • And I’ll be getting business cards too fairly soon.
  • I also started a RedBubble account! (You may have noticed this change on my Contact page.
  • And at this very moment I’m bouncing around eBay trying to find good protective bags for me and Jeannie’s prints.

So like I said, I’ve been busy. Right now I’m deciding on the next prints to do and then I get right back to drawing!

Well that’s it for now. I’ll try not to update so little from now on!

I’m alive!

I’m alive! I’ve just been working, both out in the real world and on my illustration work. You may have noticed already, but I have updated my portfolio in the past month, though I plan on doing it again sometime soon after I finish this next piece that I’m currently working on. I’m getting there, it’s just not done yet, haha.

Also, I designed a postcard –the front of it anyway — that I’m going to send out to art directors and stuff! It looks like this: Screenshot (39)

I’m pretty fond of it, I think. 🙂

I’ve also started advertising my webcomic through Project Wonderful. I also now own the url for electricrosecomic.com and I’m currently using it as a redirect to the smackjeeves site where my comic is actually hosted. So now you can just go to electricrosecomic.com and it’ll take you straight to the site! It’s much shorter that electricrosecomic.smackjeeves.com, right? And, of course, I’ve been updating my comic every week, so I’ve been busy with that too.  I’ve also started a profile on freelanced.com,  and I have a LinkedIn now under my name, Kiara Williams (my profile picture there is currently a crop of my business card).

I also have a society6 account and I’m selling prints and things there, and my book is still up for sale on CreateSpace! Go buy stuff! 😀 I’m also thinking about doing another book where it’s the first 8 chapters of my comic instead of the just the first four.

Also, I’m trying to get into my first Artist’s Alley table within the next 6 months to a year; my next target right now is NashiCon, which is in April here in Columbia. Here’s a list of things I’m trying to work my way to getting at my AA table at some point:

  • Art prints
  • Postcards (both for my personal site and my comic site)
  • More business cards (again, probably for both sites but personal site takes priority, especially since I’m probably just going to drop past artwork into it lol)
  • Bookmarks maybe?
  • Acrylic charms
  • I need to save up for one of those tall banners. They’re like $150 though, but they apparently last forever.
  • T-shirts eventually, but not now.

So that’s pretty much why I haven’t updated much around this site; I’ve been so busy with everything else! But I’ll try to update a few things around here soon.

See you guys around!

Hey again!

I know I’ve been gone for a while, but I’ve been busy working on my webcomic, which was originally my thesis comic, but now I’m extending it. Chapter 5 just finished posting today, so go ahead and check that out!

I’ve also been doing the usual, post-undergrad job search, so I haven’t had too much time to update my site. I’m going to start expanding my internet presence soon though. I’m looking into places like LinkedIn to advertise myself more. I’ve been very very quiet because of personal stuff going on, but it’s about time for me to come back now, so I’m going to!

Here’s a doodle of the three main characters of my comic wearing sweaters and Final Fantasy hats. Lorin is wearing a Cait Sith, Karina has on a Chocobo, and Elysia has a Moogle hat.

See you all soon! Hopefully, I won’t be gone so long this time!

The Electric Rose is now a webcomic!

If you go here, you can read the first couple of chapters of my thesis. But you know, you can still get all four of the introductory chapters in print form if you head on over to this link and buy my book! It’s gonna be roughly another month before all of the chapters are published on my Smackjeeves, so buying the book will actually allow you to read everything faster!

Now you’re probably wondering why I’m putting up my comic for free when I could make money just selling it in book form. Well, it’s because after the chapters I already have done are posted, I plan on extending the comic. The book I printed for thesis is not the full story. (I don’t really know how to write a short story anymore, ha.) I’ve been working on this story in my head for about a year and a half to two years, and I’m really anxious to get it out there because now’s as good a time as any.

So head on over to my Smackjeeves if you wanna check that out (and appreciate the layout because I spent hours on it). And don’t be afraid to buy my book, too!

Portfolio page has been updated and links work!

All of the thumbnails in the portfolio page has links to the full illustrations now!

Also, you may notice in the menu bar, there’s now a “Buy” page. This will contain all of the stuff I’m selling at the time. Right now, I’m taking pre-orders for my thesis comic, The Electric Rose. Price and info are listed on the page!

I think that’s it for now. I have a portfolio showing tomorrow so I’m gonna go rest up for that. Talk to you guys soon.

First post!

I had the hardest time getting this site to work, but it’s working now! I just started constructing it all today, so it’s gonna be a few more days before everything is as it should be.

I’m currently working on my senior thesis. As of now there are only 11 pages left to ink, and then I can get to work on screentoning the rest of the comic pages and then work on the cover and all the extra pages of my graphic novel, most of which are done already.

That’s all for now. I’ll check back in sometime soon so that you all get the update on how close this site is to being complete.

Best,

BlacQueen
